Devlog #6 - Alpha 0.2.0
As we find ourselves closer to Christmas 2024 than New Year's 2023, Deliver IT continues to hit milestone after milestone, regardless of whether this blog is updated or not. We're thrilled to announce that the next major milestone we’re reaching now is "Office 2.0". Previously, we’ve been using a custom-built prototype in MagicaVoxel. Nino created fantastic furniture that we will also reuse in Office 2.0, adding a familiar yet refined touch to our virtual environment. I’m also planning to bring the whole office to life, piece by piece, making it a more immersive and engaging space for players.
The main focus at this stage was to transfer all managers, implement enemy functionalities, and ensure that we can actually move around in our newly renovated office. This was no small feat, as it involved a lot of meticulous work to ensure everything transitioned smoothly. We've made sure that every corner of the office is explorable and that the interactions with various elements feel seamless and natural.
Next, we’ll begin to figure out the actual gameplay loop, where the player should be able to arrive at the office, get through a workday, and end the day with statistics and rewards. This is an exciting phase for us as it transforms our concept into a playable reality. We want players to feel the progression and satisfaction of a job well done, mirrored in the game’s feedback and reward systems. We have only scratched the surface of this part in previous blog posts, but now we will need to dive deep into it, refining every detail to ensure a rewarding experience.
We're also looking into adding more dynamic elements to the gameplay. For instance, random events that can occur during the workday, adding an element of surprise and challenge. These could range from sudden project deadlines to unexpected office issues that the player needs to resolve. The goal is to keep the gameplay engaging and varied, so no two workdays feel exactly the same.
For those who are eager to test this version of the game, you can do so here. Your feedback will be invaluable as we continue to refine and enhance Deliver IT. We're excited to hear your thoughts and see how you navigate through Office 2.0. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
